Romans 11:1 I say then, Has God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

Romans 11:2 God has not cast away his people which he foreknew.(*). Wot you not what the scriptures says of Elias.(the Greek form of Elijah)? how he makes intercession to God against Israel, saying,
What Old testament scriptures were being referred to here?.1Kings 19:10-18.
Romans 11:3 Lord, they have killed your prophets and digged down your altars and I am left alone and they seek my life.

Romans 11:4,5 But what says the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand people, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works.(that is, your salvation didn't come from some practices you may have done to ascend to Christ, that is, to work at 'becoming as Christ', but as verses 4,5 explain, God reserves who at any time are to be in Christ:.John 17:12. And it's not your workmanship that 'gets you there', it's Christ's:.Ephesians 2:10; Colossians 1:27  "...Christ in you, the hope of glory."), otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it.(grace).be of works, then is it no more grace.(that is, grace is nullified by works is really then not grace), otherwise work is no more work.
Clarke's Commentary: that is, were it be of works, grace would lose its proper nature and cease to be what it is, the free undeserved gift of God. JFB Commentary: That there are but two possible sources of salvation, men's works and God's grace and that these are so essentially distinct and opposite, that spiritual salvation cannot be of any combination or mixture of both, but must be wholly either of the one or of the other. And if it's of the other, that is, our works, then to us they are of value for the sake of the self, but not regarding spiritual salvation:.Isaiah 64:6; Acts 4:12.

People have all kinds of works, apart from simply believing in Christ, to ascend higher in consciousness. If you don't belive in someone, you won't follow him. Whatever one does and believes should lead him or her higher in consciousness. But they forget Ephesians 2:10 and so they labor away trying to do what was already done for them. It's in appreciation for what Christ had done that we meditate and pray, contemplate and increase our knowledge. This doesn't raise us higher in ascention to Christ, nor do such others things done to raise us higher. If Christ is in you, there's no higher one can go.

Romans 11:7 What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks for, but the election has obtained it and the rest were blinded.
Most on the Earth may still be in that state.
Romans 11:8-10 According as it is written, God has given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see and ears that they should not hear unto this day. And David said, Let their table be made a snare and a trap and a stumblingblock and a recompence unto them. Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see and bow down their back alway.

Romans 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid. But rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles.(a Gentile in the Old Testament was one not of the people of God back then, the people then who wanted nothing to do with God:.Jeremiah 44:16,17; today it similarly means those who aren't interested in God for whatever reason), for to provoke them to jealousy..(?)

Romans 11:12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles, how much more their fulness?

Romans 11:13 For I.(Paul).speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office.

Romans 11:14.If by any means I may provoke to emulation.(Paul wanted others to follow his example in his hotness for the truth:.2Corinthians 11:23-30).them which are my flesh.(that is, of humanity and mostly not of mankind.{*}).and might save some of them.(Paul always wanted peace. Satanists always want war, harm and death for those unlike their ilk).
Since all are already saved, it means to awaken them to this truth:.2Timothy 1:9. And why?

"provoke to emulation", original gives 'make acceptable to follow'.

Paul's background from.Barnes Notes: Paul descended from the patriarch Israel (earlier Israel's name was Jacob) and therefore, was able to trace his genealogy way back. Paul had all the advantages which could be derived from a regular descent from the venerable founders of the nation which followed from the individual Jacob whose name was changed to Israel. Paul was distinguished from the Edomites and others who practised circumcision and also from the Samaritans, who were made up of a mixture of people:.Acts 9:15..No doubt Paul had in mind the principle he learned from his studies of the Old Testament:.Leviticus 19:34.

Paul knew God called him.(Matthew 11:27).because of two things. One being, shocking circumstances that turned his heart away from legalism of his religion. The other being how he now felt about others:.Romans 11:14

Acts 18:23.

Original for word 'save' here is 'sozo' which has as one of its meanings, 'to make whole', that is, one is not whole until he or she has the knowledge of why they are and toward this, they need awakening.

Romans 11:15 For if the casting away of them.(Israel).be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
The physical Israel was hopeless spiritually, so much so.almost.all (Romans 9:27; Isaiah 10:20-22) about them was wiped out:.2Chronicles 36:10; the spiritual Israel is hopeful for everyone;.JFB Commentary:."they were cast away, though neither totally nor finally and it is of this partial and temporary rejection that the apostle Paul here speaks."
Romans 11:16 For if the first fruit be holy, the lump is also holy. And if the root be holy, so are the branches.

Romans 11:17-19 And if some of the branches be broken off and you, being a wild olive tree, were graffed in among them and with them partake of the root and fatness of the olive tree, boast not against the branches. But if you boast, you bear not the root, but the root you. You will say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.

Romans 11:20 Well, because of unbelief they were broken off and you stand by faith. Be not highminded, but fear.

Romans 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not you.

Romans 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God. On them which fell, severity, but toward you, goodness, if you continue in his goodness. Otherwise you also shall be cut off.
Romans 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity.(original 'sharpness', 'abruptness', 'curtness'; in other words God doesn't play head games; the universe is set up so men and women indeed reap what they have sown, how else will they truly learn?.Daniel 9:14; Job 12:10,14,15,23. So, always do your best, why?).of God. On them which fell, severity, but toward you, goodness, if you continue in his goodness. Otherwise you also shall be cut off.

It's an automatic thing. If you're out of the attitude of love and into selfishness, hate, me first, screw you, cruelty, etc., then you've allowed your ego to cut you off from all the good stuff for you in the multiverse. What good stuff?.1Corinthians 2:9.

Romans 11:23,24 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in, for God is able to graff them in again. For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree, how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?

Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own conceits, that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

Romans 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved. As it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer and shall turn away unGodliness from Jacob.
Romans 11:26 And so all Israel.(the spiritual Israel of the New Testament, meaning all those of God are 'Israelites', spiritually speaking and this includes Judah, which shall be one with spiritual Israelites).shall be saved. As it is written.(Isaiah 59:20), There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer.(John 4:22 ...salvation is of the tribe of Judah, through whom the One we know as Emmanuel today, came).and shall turn away unGodliness from Jacob.(Jacob {who was Jacob} is another name for those of the bloodline that became Israel).

Jeremiah 39:17,18 "But I will deliver you in that day, says the Lord and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid. For I will surely deliver you and you shall not fall by the sword, but your life shall be for a prey.(see explanation at scripture link).unto you because you have put your trust in me, says the Lord."

Ancient Jacob whose name was changed to Israel, is used in the New Testament for those who love God:.Genesis 32:28.

Romans 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them.(that they will all be saved:.John 17:12), when I shall take away their sins.

Romans 11:28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes.(to you still thinking as your forefathers did in Old Testament times, the Gentiles are still enemies), but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes..(?)

Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
The Creator does not retrieve what He has brought forth as the spiritual you, ever! even if one may have passed on.(*).
Romans 11:30,31 For as you in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief.(in other words you were the same). Even so have these also now not believed.(those Paul was here talking about, at this time in the life of Paul), that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
How does this work?.1, 2,3.
Romans 11:32 For God has concluded them all in unbelief.(how? why?.Romans 5:15-18).that he might have mercy upon all.
And God's mercy applies as He sees fit:.Romans 9:15-18.

Man is here to learn about his own nature as he experiences life, so he'll at least see a need for things to be better and appreciate it when they are. It's all about teaching what man must learn to rise up to the status of Father-God. And some things are difficult to comprehend being of the true God of all creation, such as the Esau and his brother's role on this stage on earh. And others such as 'you don't come to God unless He has called you' to be so and given you such a heart to be so:.Romans 9:16.

Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments and his ways past finding out!
'Past finding out'?.Ephesians 3:10,18,19; 2Peter 3:18.

And always will be unless we look beyond the information coming to us from our 5 senses.

Romans 11:34 For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?
Isaiah 9:6.
Romans 11:35 Or who has first given to him and it shall be recompensed unto him again?

Romans 11:36 For of him and through him and to him.(that is, 'being in Him' as the original has it), are all things.(1Corinthians 3:21), to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
