Deuteronomy 28:1,2 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken.diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the Earth.

Deuteronomy 28:2 And all these blessings.(read on down through).shall come on you and overtake you, if you hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.
Although the part back then of all they had to do under the onerous Mosaic Law, of which this chapter is within, is now abolished, the spiritual component always resides, so, the hearkening to God.back then.meant a lot of doing over 600+ things, but the hearkening to God today is equally.relevant; so today, what do we hearken to?.Galatians 3:24-26.
Deuteronomy 28:3-8 Blessed will you be in the city and blessed will you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your kine and the flocks of thy sheep. Blessed shall be your basket and your store. Blessed shall you be when you come in and blessed shalt you be when you go out. The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against you to be smitten before your face. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. The Lord shall command the blessing upon you in your storehouses and in all that you set your hand unto and he'll bless you in the land which the Lord your God gives you.

Deuteronomy 28:9-13 The Lord shall establish you an holy people unto himself, as he has sworn unto you, if you keep the commandments.(what are they today {Matthew 22:36-40} since the Mosaic law is gone).of the Lord your God and walk in his ways. And all people of the Earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord and they shall be afraid.(word 'afraid' in original means to 'awe', to revere, that is, a respect for and wonder of).of you. And the Lord shall make you plenteous in goods.(John 10:10), in the fruit of your body.(your children will be prosperous and healthy).and in the fruit of your cattle and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers to give you.(the antitype of the kingdom of God, now on Earth. The Lord shall open unto you his good treasure, the heaven.(God will continue to take you along the spiritual pathways of life), to give the rain unto your land in his season and to bless all the work of your hand. And you shall lend unto many nations and you shall not borrow. And the Lord shall make you the head and not the tail and you shall be above only and you shall not be beneath, if that you hearken unto the commandments of the Lord your God, which I urge you this day to observe and to do them.

Deuteronomy 28:14 And you shall not go aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other Gods to serve them.
But that's just what these 'not too brilliant' ancients did and they did it time and time again. They would get into trouble. God would get them out of trouble. And this went on and on again and again.
Deuteronomy 28:15-17 But it shall come to pass, if you will not hearken unto the voice of the Lord your God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command you this day, that all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you, such as Cursed shall you be in the city and cursed shall you be in the field. Cursed shall be your basket and your store.

Deuteronomy 28:18 Cursed shall be the fruit of your body and the fruit of your land, the increase of your kine and the flocks of your sheep.

Deuteronomy 28:19 Cursed shall you be when you come in and cursed shall you be when you go out.

Deuteronomy 28:20-26 The Lord shall send upon you cursing, vexation and rebuke, in all that you set your hand unto for to do, until you be destroyed and until you perish quickly.(it got so bad that there just was no hope for them doing good and God destroyed a whole generation of their kind:.Numbers 14:22,23; 20:12), because of the wickedness of your doings, whereby you have forsaken me..(they had made an agreement with God, which they broke). The Lord shall make the pestilence.cleave unto you, until he has consumed you from off the land, whither you go to possess it. The Lord shall smite you with a consumption and with a fever.(original, a burning sensation as would be a fever).and with an inflammation and with an extreme burning.(extremely hot).and with the sword and with blasting and with mildew and they shall pursue you until you perish. And your heaven that is over your head shall be brass.(as if it were brass; no rain, no humidity).and the Earth that is under you shall be iron.(ground hard as a rock; can't plant crops). The Lord shall make the rain of your land powder and dust.(the whole place is a dust bowl). From heaven shall it come down upon you until you be destroyed. The Lord shall cause you to be smitten in front of your enemies. You shall go out one way against them and flee seven ways from them and shall be removed into all the kingdoms of the Earth.(captivity). And your carcase shall be meat.(means food).unto all fowls of the air and unto the beasts of the Earth and no man shall fray.(shoo them away).them away.
Original for 'none shall fray them away' is 'none to frighten them away'.
Deuteronomy 28:27 The Lord will smite thee with the botch.(original means 'boil').of Egypt and with the emerods and with the scab and with the itch, whereof you can not be healed.

Deuteronomy 28:28,29 The Lord shall smite you with madness.(unable to think clearly when needing to; today alzheimers, dementia, all because of the need to wake up to God so you'll be blessed with his guidance in all areas of life:.John 10:10).and blindness.(deteriorating vision).and astonishment of heart.(fearful). And you shall grope at noonday, as the blind gropes in darkness and you shall not prosper in your ways..(in other words, you're finished, you're 'done like dinner':.Matthew 3:12).And you shall be oppressed and spoiled evermore.(nothing will go right for you; everywhere you turn it's a heartache).and no man shall save you.(but God can).

Deuteronomy 28:30 You shall betroth a wife and another man shall lie with her. You shall build an house and you shall not dwell therein. You shall plant a vineyard and shall not gather the grapes thereof.

Deuteronomy 28:31-35 Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes and you shall not eat thereof. Thine ass.(donkey).shall be violently taken away from before your face and shall not be restored to you. Your sheep shall be given unto your enemies and you shall have none to rescue them. Your sons and your daughters shall be given unto another people and your eyes shall look and fail with longing for them all the day long. And there shall be no might in your hand. The fruit of your land and all your labours, shall a nation which you know not eat up and you shall be oppressed.(exploited).and crushed.(broken in spirit, discouraged).always, so that you shall be mad.(angry and upset).for the sight of your eyes which you shall see.(you'll notice your vision is leaving you). The Lord shall smite you in the knees and in the legs, with a sore botch.(original 'boil').that cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot unto the top of your head.

Deuteronomy 28:36 The Lord shall bring you and your king.(*), whoever you have set over you, unto a nation which neither you nor your fathers have known and there shall you serve other gods, wood and stone.

Deuteronomy 28:37-42 And you shall become an astonishment.(other nations will wonder, what on Earth is happening to you?), a proverb.(a trite.maxim; a similitude; a parable) and a byword (taunt, gibe), among all nations whither the Lord shall lead thee. You shall carry much seed out into the field and shall gather but little in, for the locust shall consume it. You'll plant vineyards and dress them, but shall neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes, for the worms shall eat them. And the olive trees throughout all your coasts you won't be able to anoint yourself with the oil.(it will be unusable), for your olive tree shall cast its fruit. You shalt beget sons and daughters, but you shall not enjoy them, for they shall go into captivity. All your trees and fruit of your land shall the locust consume.
