2Kings 20:1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah.(Isaiah 38:1).the son of Amoz came to him and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order, for you shalt die and not live.

2Kings 20:2,3 Then he turned his face to the wall and prayed unto the Lord, saying, I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart and have done that which is good in your sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

2Kings 20:4,5 And it came to pass, before Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Lord came to him, saying, Turn again and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up unto the house of the Lord.

2Kings 20:6 And I will add unto your days fifteen years and I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria and I will defend this city for mine own sake and for my servant David's sake.

2Kings 20:7 And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil and he recovered.

2Kings 20:8-11 And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the Lord will heal me.(so that he doesn't get sick again with more boils).and that I shall go up into the house of the Lord the third day? And Isaiah said, The sign you shall have of the Lord is your choice and the Lord will do the thing that he has spoken; the shadow on the sundial will go forward ten degrees or go back ten degrees? And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees. Nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the Lord and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial.(sundial).of Ahaz.(Hezekiah was son of Ahaz, the former king of Judah).

2Kings 20:12 At that time Berodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah.(aw, wasn't that nice? Yes, but always watch out for the hidden 'snake'), for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.

2Kings 20:13-15 And Hezekiah hearkened unto them.(dear king Hezekiah figured they were telling the truth when they said they had heard he had been sick and wanted to 'just come and see him because they cared', but they didn't care; they had an ulterior.motive, a different and hidden agenda that they weren't, of course, disclosing in any way).and showed them all the house of his precious things, the silver and the gold and the spices and the precious ointment and all the house of his armour and all that was found in his treasures. There was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not. Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah and said unto him, What said these men and from whence came they unto you? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon. And he said, What have they seen in your house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen. There is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them.
Not wise to have done that, to be that open with strangers. Be very careful who you open up to. Don't assume all whom you meet are trustable. Get to know well those you meet and long before you come to a point of trusting them. Get to know others who may know them. What do they think of them? And see how those who appear to want to be your friends, interact with others and find out what they have done by first talking with others who may know them.
2Kings 20:16,17 And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord.(God didn't stop Hezekiah from his naivety which was getting him into trouble, because God wanted him to learn the character fault he had that he didn't seem to see, so he would become better in character:.2Chronicles 32:31). Behold, the days come, that all that is in your house and that which your fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon. Nothing shall be left, says the Lord.

2Kings 20:18,19 And of your sons that shall issue from you, which you shalt beget, shall they take away and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which you have spoken. And he.(Hezekiah).said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?
Rotherham translation:."And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, Good, is the word of Yahweh.(an Old Testament name for God), which you have spoken. And he said, Is it not that, peace and stability there shall be in my days?".Jamieson, Faucett and Brown Commentary:."This concluding part of Heziakiah's reply expressed his thankfulness, that, though great afflictions should befall his descendants, the execution of the divine judgment was to be suspended during his own lifetime."

Hezekiah lacked caring for his posterity, but was a somewhat kind good hearted king, though.naive. Perhaps his father King Ahaz was too busy running the country to have his son at his side to learn some solid lessons in dealing with others when the boy was growing up, as his son appears to have lacked seeing how his father dealt with other adults.

2Kings 20:20,21 And the rest of the acts of Hezekiah and all his might and how he made a pool and a conduit and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of.The Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And Hezekiah slept with his fathers and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.
